After reading the mixed reviews, I went in with an open mind.
The cinematography was very good.
Nicole Kidmans’ performance was believable.
Claus Bangs’ performance also was convincing.
However…
It’s easily 40 minutes too long for delivering so little.
Alexander Scarsgård overacted the entire time.
Many scenes were unbelievable and too long i.e. Viking Mythology and fighting scenes.
The enunciation of the dialogue even in surround sound was terrible.
I tried to view it as a ‘Lord of the Rings’ type movie when I started to feel let down by the performances, but even then it fell short and I wanted a physical break.
David Michôds’, Movie The King’ kept coming to mind of how it needed to proceed.
Overall impression is wait and watch it on Netflix with subtitles and then maybe you’ll enjoy it.
