Reading this book again was so nostalgic. I used to read all the Candy Apple Book stories in elementary school, and now I am a college student who randomly remembered that one particular book I loved about “the girl with the red curly hair”. It took a while to figure out the title/author, but when I did I ended up buying the book and genuinely enjoyed reading about the bubbly main character, with a personality that differs from the usual arrogant, “I’m the popular girl”, type in grade school storylines. She embraces the new experiences in her life when she moves to another state, but before that the story introduces her as being a kind friend, so when she leaves her people she’s already developed a friendly support system. There’s topics of mild bullying and anxious moments, but handling it with grace. The characters in this story must be around 11-12 yrs old, since they are in fifth grade, and I think this is a lovely book for children to read.
