I don't even know what to say. These big studios have truly talented writers but the executives use their vapid, shallow, cookie cutter movie blueprints that kids feel safe and comfortable watching. Kids' movies back in the day (and a rare few today) were actually culturally relevant and educational. My favorite movies looking back as an adult were ones that made me confront fears and examine who I was and wanted to be by showing me things that sometimes could feel somewhat distressing. Overly protective parents and the resulting overly sensitive children who lack insight and critical thinking created these "safe zone" snoozefests. Shame.
