I am in my sixties now. I first read Heinlein in my early teens. SiaSL was not one of his best in terms of what Heinlein did best (explain the realities of the scientific world to laymen, with only a smattering of misogny, patronizing, and pro-Western cultural libertarianism). However, its characters were fairly interesting and the sardonic disassembling of major Western cultural assumptions was a bit educational.
My main question to the Net is: Has there ever been a serious attempt to make the novel into a film?
