Struggled to read past the 1st chapter!
I know it's fantasy and you have to suspend your disbelief, but I get very annoyed at supposedly British authors doing Americanisms. I'm sure you have to write for the American market to get better sales, but rewriting British history and infrastructure to get them?
Using a fire hydrant to best a hell hound, would be inventive, if the author knew what a fire hydrant was!
