[SPOILER FREE] TLOU 2 has a story that many people on the internet, especially if they've not actually played the game, hate. Whether or not how much you're currently dedicated to the world and characters of The Last Of Us, if you go into this sequel with a relatively open mind, you'll probably be able to get at least some enjoyment out of it. At about 25 hours long, some say its story is poorly and needlessly dragged out... I wholeheartedly disagree. With this game, perspective in every regard is crucial.
It's probably not a 10/10 game, I personally prefer the first game to it, and it's not the story many fans will want to see, but it's the story Neil Druckmann and Naughty Dog wanted to tell. Saying it's a 5/5 out a game is probably just trying to combat all the trolls who are giving the game 0/10's and 1 stars. And giving it 1 star is absolutely blasphemous, even if you hate the story with a passion, it's absurd to give almost any game a 1 star.
Overall I'd rate the game at about an 8/10; the story leaves the player with a whirlwind of emotions throughout it's more than 20 hour story. There's some weird minor inconsistencies and changes leading from the first game, and other plain odd game choices. Such as the inability to turn off the film grain effect during gameplay, even though you can adjust it in the photo mode. Or that Troy Baker's performance as Joel is a bit iffy with his voice sounding very different than he did in TLOU 1, and also the fact that for some reason they shortened the width of his shoulders. But at the end of the day, those are all extremely nitpicky complaints, and those are the worst that I can come up with.
Even if you don't want to spend a full $60 on this game, that's understandable. But once you can find it on sale, 100% give it a try. It's a worthy sequel to the original, even if its direction may turn some people away.
