Overall, this movie epitomizes the spirt of "Thanks, I hate it."
The script is...gauche and largely misses the tension driving the novel. The changes to Jane Austen's dialogue are entirely unnecessary and clumsy. Johnson's version of Anne Elliott is more outgoing and silly, but also impulsive, cringey, and all too modern. Jarvis' Wentworth is awkward and imperceptive.
It's not all bad though - McKenna-Bruce's Mary is truly excellent as much needed comedic relief in true Austen style and Golding makes a believable rake as Mr. Elliott.
