After watching Tracy Grimshaw interview our PM last night, I felt somewhat appalled. Her implication was that it is the PM's fault that China - Australia relations have soured; and / or that the PM is not doing enough to 'fix' the situation.
How can a TV reporter be so ignorant, naive and downright foolish? Why is it that so many Australians don't seem to get it about China and the CCP? Does Ms Grimshaw not follow world events or know and understand what China is up to elsewhere? Does she not understand the threat China poses to Australia - a country quite unable to defend itself militarily? Or does she want her fellow Australians to crawl on their bellies to the bullying CCP and allow China to rape and pillage our natural and intellectual resources?
It is parochial and foolhardy in the extreme to endeavour to use the current 'impasse' with China to try and score political points, even if you don't like the Liberal Party. There is a 'national interest' to be aware of and respected here. Australia is not surrounded by a protective 'magic circle'. This is a very dangerous time in our history; and petty small mindedness and arrogant over-confidence and complacency could lead to the loss of our free democracy and, indeed, our country itself.
