The Song of Achilles is one of the greatest books I have ever read in my 15 years of living. I have heard about the book multiple times before and I wasn't sure if I'd ever get an opportunity to actually read it. I eventually did read it and WOW it was a really interesting book. Madeline Miller's way with words is truly something exceptional. This book made me feel a plethora of emotions ranging from joy to grief, there wasn't an emotion I didn't feel. Knowing it's a Greek mythology book I'm not sure everyone would enjoy it, however, I can guarantee that readers of Rick Riordan and other mythology enjoyers would enjoy this book fairly well.
The book starts off rather appealing, I find myself being Drawn to it not wanting to put the book down at all. Almost like my fingers were glued to the book. The book provides an interesting turn of events, great symbolism as well as great twists you may have not discovered unless you read the book a couple of times or took the time to think about the questions posed in the book. A truly Great book with many amazing quotes and mysteries.
The ending of the book was truly sad but I feel as though it was appropriate. Nearing the end I occasionally took breaks from reading it as I was aware that the ending would be fatal. My eyes would often swell up with tears as I had found that I'd made a connection with the book in a way. Without a doubt Madeline Miller has become one of my favourite novelists and I look forward to her following creations.
