Asteroid City bored me to the point where I basically had to force myself to keep watching it in the hopes that there would be any really redeeming qualities or parts. This never happened, save for maybe a few interesting moments here and there. This movie was so bad that the only reason I would want to watch it again would be to figure out what was happening in some parts (and maybe to see the cool art style again). Some of the only things I liked, or just thought were neat, were the fact that some of the background songs they used were in the Fallout games because I am a huge fallout fan, that I recognized the cast members, and the beautiful art style. Though the cast was full of well known and pretty talented names, their acting felt like it could have been done just as well by random people the producers found on the street since the characters showed almost no emotion. Overall, the film was a boring, convoluted mess that made me feel like I had wasted my time. I am not a filmmaker, a writer, an actor, or a movie critic so I don’t know if there was something more to Asteroid City that I missed or didn’t understand, but it seems like this movie just didn’t hit the mark.
HOWEVER, I do not want to say that everyone who was a part of this film was bad. There might have been some people who contributed to the film’s overall poor quality, but I do not want to neglect the people who put in effort and at least tried to make this movie good. So to those people who positively helped this movie, THANK YOU.
