Pros: amazing graphics, design, storyline and writing.
Cons: could be a stroybook instead of a game. The battle system feels optional and boring after a few overworld battles, to the point where you are actively avoiding most of them, coins are the only thing that you need to get some progress and even that is very limited, the only battles that have slightly more challenging puzzles are mandatory battles and boss battles, puzzles in the overworld are not challenging at all, even my younger self would find them more often than not boring. No sidekicks, no reward system, silly collectibles in chests that add absolutely nothing to the story or to the player's gaming experience. No customisation of battles at all.
A sad shadow of what Paper Mario used to be. Historically, there is large consensus that the franchise became continuously lacklustre (to not say worst) after TTYD. Fans will continue to remind Nintendo that the first two games are the reigning fan favourites, and I personally will not spend money on any more Paper Mario games, if ever made, unless i see from third parties that any sequel to the franchise is fully an RPG. Mario has many other adventure style platformers that will not give this bittersweet feeling to his fans.
