SPOILERS. There are basically two stories going on here. There is the modern story of the family who moves into this home and finds Cassandra the robot.. and then the flashback in time showing Cassandra’s original story before she was a robot. Cassandra’s story was very interesting and really could’ve been its own movie. The modern story was very frustrating and illogical. As many people already stated, it was frustrating how the husband just automatically believed this robot over his wife, who by all accounts has no history of mental illness and is an intelligent and rational woman. Another thing that bothered me was that they moved into a home that has been empty since the 1970s, and yet they never even looked under the bed?? They didn’t know there were GUNS under the bed?! But the most ridiculous part of all was when the robot takes them “hostage”…. She rolls around like a vacuum cleaner; all the father had to do was to kick her over to the ground and stomp on her, then even if she could turn the oven on and lock the doors, he could’ve picked up a chair and smashed the window and they could’ve escaped. He was so scared of her & helpless. It was irritating.

This was one of the most intense and gripping series I’ve ever watched. Especially as a parent, you were right there with the family, you were experiencing the confusion, the fear and the frustration. The actor that played Jamie did a phenomenal job. This was a really unusual perspective and not the typical view from only the homicide detectives. This is not solving a mystery, this is showing the impact of a life-changing event on a family and exploring the intense emotions -VERY well done.

Very cliché unoriginal characters with an almost cartoonish plot. Predictable frat level humor & far fetched action. Watchable for very fluffy & forgettable entertainment.

To start with the positives, the acting was excellent. The plot at its core was very interesting. And the last scene was immensely intense… Spoilers ahead. There were many plot holes in this movie. The two abandoned children were missing adapt to their characters. What kind of up raising did they have without their mother? What did they want from her? Why did they suddenly decide to torture the family? How were both sets of kids so close in age when that’s really not possible? Why did the family allow themselves to be trapped when it did not appear that the two older kids had any serious weapons with them. Why did the mother not choose to defend her innocent family? By not flushing out these characters more, the empathy factor was missing. I only felt truly sorry Ian as he legit did not know about any of this, so I’m not sure why the oldest wanted to kill him. It had good potential, but I wish they had done some things differently.
