It was ok but the plot was confusing with 9 families involved then 7 & myriad characters & in the end I got a bit lost & wasn't sure about who was who.
Also the story is set in 3 different eras, which he has done in a previous book but that didn’t work for me & I thought it unnecessary.

Starts well but then falls into cliches. A lot of unplausible things happen which are necessary to drive the plot.
And the underlying back story about disaffected men who take their revenge on women is also pretty lame.
OK for a holiday read but certainly not top shelf.

Loved Boy swallows universe but struggled with this. Almost a type of magic realism & I prefer more straight forward narrative & storyline.
As someone who lived in Darwin for 12 years I wasn't really convinced.
The extensive Indigenous plot involvement may be very "woke" but seemed contrived given the reality of frontier life back then.
