It used to be that a good movie required a good story. Now a mediocre story plus hundreds of million dollars in special effects is enough to sell tickets. But then there are stories bad enough that even special effects cannot rescue the picture . Unfortunately this is one of those. The movie industry needs to go back to its roots, FX only take you so far.
