The Dad: weak, passive, scared of his own children, easily manipulated and disrespected by his family. Can’t make his own decisions. The Mom: bossy, the leader, disrespectful, easily manipulated, belittles spouse in front of kids, bullied by kids and weak in character. Nick: the smartest of all the characters and is a pathological liar, schemer and manipulator whom we are expected to have sympathy for. Molly: arrogant, shallow, terribly disrespectful to parents and swayed by culture The brother: arrogant, prideful and disrespectful Overall: adults are portrayed as idiots to be manipulated, used and disrespected, kids are portrayed as smarter than anyone else, are narcissists and taught to lie, scheme and boss adults around, victim culture is prevalent, political correctness is over the top and there is no authentic humility in anyone.
