The first episode was probaly the best re witty direct dialogue a la Bogarde "Sam Spade" with the last episode a disaster for the locutious verbiage from everyone including the kitchen sink. And that pseudo-Canadian character a total bust..... what was she trying to do, approximate the Sidney Greenstreet character. The flimsy plot twists with the Gabrielle flashbacks were exceedingly annoying after Episode 2.... Too many cardboard characters with tenuous arcs to drive the story just got in the way making it feel so amateurish after episode 3.... I feel that the writers bear the brunt of the disaster for trying to do too much and accomplishing nothing. They threw a lot of mud against the wall b ut hardly anything stuck.
