Felt a bit like an old rpg throwback. Like oblivion with updated battle system. The vocations and fighting mechanisms are definitely the highlight of the game. Fun, ridiculous, over the top. The monsters ofteb are giant and have their own weaknesses and unique fighting characteristics. Unfortunately, there are very few total monsters and it does become a bit repetitive killing the same things for the 50th time. It would be amazing if there were some 50-100 unique monsters, as opposed to what? 10?
The story is a complete joke. I wasn't expecting much of the story going into it. But it is... just awful. Like, the worst rpg story of any game I've ever played. Honestly, I have beat it completely and have no earthy clue what the story was about, nor do I really care because it was just terrible. Then again, the game isn't great for its story, it's the combat variety and overall fun grind and world exploration..
As a final note, my biggest upset of the game is it is ohhh so way too easy. I mean I die here and there not uncommon, almost always my own fault falling off a mountain. Some vocations, like theif, should revolve around high risk high reward / damage output. You got the super high damage output, but it also has 2 master skills you can get super early in the game, and they are so OP the game is of literally zero challenge. One does near insta kill damage, and the other basically turns on God mode as long as you have stamina, which the skill barely drains.
So the theif basically has the highest DPS and also by far the best defense and tanking ability of all vocations. Yeah, I don't use those skills. But they need to address these core issues and I would rate it 5/5
