Interestingly -to me anyway- the title itself is a reminder of Tarkovsky's film made in Italy ( with the same title ) the inverse sentiment,that the eponymous lead is achingly missing his homeland .I wondered wether italy with its protean history is a place, was specially evocatory on memory and emotional tenses.? Enough said: The newer film is very good in parts and shows Naples with patina of age and beauty that italises the past and the crumbling presentT.he film work sbest for me when lead actor is refamiliarising himself and remembering the city of childhood and youth.It ultimately turms into a cathic crime film with a ending that unequivocally says leavethe past where it is: in your memory.
