I wanted to hate on it, but was surprised how good it was. I feel like it pays homage to Batman the animated series I grew up on.

Such a disappointment. At this point it's a Mockbuster series. The writers don't have a connected storyline. They didn't really build up the characters that well. Everything seems rushed and not connecting well. They have some good actors but it seems whomever directed and storyboarded this didn't know how to use them. I think the main problem is, they are trying to be trendy. It seems like they are trying to make every character have a storyline like 'Game of Thrones', and that only works when you know how to use them to propagate the main storyline and have the time to flush out the details(1hour+ per episode). The writers didn't do so well on that.
