I really wanted to like the movie, but it became uncomfortable a few episodes in. It's one thing to depict a student falling in love with their teacher—it does happen. However, the issue lies in the over-romanticization of this relationship, which ends up glorifying an inappropriate dynamic. The teacher frustrated me with her complete lack of boundaries, which only encouraged the young boy's interest in her. Despite multiple warnings from everyone, including her fiancé, about how her behavior was inappropriate or could be perceived that way, she ignored them. Really, staying out late and going on trips alone with your star student? She lacked self-awareness, boundaries, and seemed emotionally unstable. She called out others for their wrongdoings but failed to address her own glaring mistakes. I ended up skipping through the last few episodes because watching her and her student act self-righteous and happy together made me uncomfortable. The kiss at the end solidified the cringe factor. Overall, the movie suggests that strong feelings justify poor decisions, glorifying a problematic relationship between an authority figure and her student. It's troubling, and the fact that many fail to see the glaring moral error is concerning.
