The "Aladdin" live-action remake was terrific. Ignore the whiners about the lead; Mena Massoud made a terrific Aladdin. The entire cast was amazing, with the non-Genie stand-out being Naomi Scott as Jasmine. Her character arc was the most satisfying in the film.
As for Genie, Will Smith crushed it. No, he's not Robin Williams, but he never pretends to be. His Genie is his own, and he steals every scene he's in, and he makes you glad that he did.
Lastly, Guy Ritchie was the exact right choice to direct this movie. Who else could have handled the frenetic chase during Aladdin's opening song? I hope he gets at least a nomination for this work.
Bottom line: Go see Aladdin. It's worth your time.
