Halloween franchise fanatics will likely hate the bizarre detours Halloween Ends takes with its band of characters as the film injects some new blood into the saga.
Halloween Ends does not focus as much on Laurie Strode (let alone Michael Myers) for a significant chunk of its runtime and instead focuses on fleshing out a Haddonfeild outcast named Corey Cunningham and his relationship with Laurie Strode's surviving grand daughter Allyson.
Through this period, we are greeted to significant chunk of character growth for Laurie, Corey and Allyson while the town of Haddonfield still reels from the events of 4 years prior. A sense of dread and blame overshadows them. All the while, murders continue to unflod in the town.
This is not a typical Michael-Myers-Stalks-And-Kills Halloween film. And I kind of love it for that reason. Yes, Michael Myers is in fact IN the movie-- especially in a particularly exciting and creative third act. But for the most part, this is a character drama Halloween sequel. And it's kind of praise worthy for that very reason in my honest opinion.
