It was worth the price of admission, but not much more. As someone who doesn't follow Marvel very closely, I was expecting another cheesy action-packed superhero film, and this was not that at all. It was also a bit on the long side.
(Icarus) As for what it ended up being, I felt like they kind of glossed over why nothing else in the Marvel universe matters to the premise, or how the Celestials fit into Thanos or the TVA (and wasn't Starlord's dad a celestial, and he looked/acted nothing like those things). If you just pretend this is a standalone film in its own universe, though, the plot is pretty interesting. They definitely didn't pass up any chances to throw in their political takes on out-of-context historical events, but it's Disney, so I pretty much expected that coming in. The thing with the child falling in love with the grown adult was also kind of weird, even if she was technically supposed to be thousands of years old. Also I was really looking forward to seeing where the whole Deviant evolution plot was going, but they ended up just killing him with no real explanation, or explaining why they still wanted to kill each other even after they found out they were both just unknowing servants to the Celestials. And the part where Icarus just randomly turns good and kills himself made no sense at all.
So overall, not what I expected at all, but a decent movie with a less-than-satisfying ending. Not as bad as everyone is saying it is, though.
