Apparently this is luminous and award winning. Yes, Toibin's prose is high quality. However you have to be really interested in Ireland, post war Spain, art/artists and maternal awfulness to enjoy this book. I listened to it on a library app and was glad when I got to the end. My life is not enhanced at all by listening to it.
