This is Procol Harum's best album.
All talents are utilized to the fullest. The range of types of music is breathtaking, and they pull it all off masterfully.
Robin Trower's vocal on "Crucifixion Lane" is not the album's finest moment; but Matthew Fisher's lead vocals make this a much better listen than if Gary Brooker had again sung all the songs. Brooker's an excellent singer (particularly on the title cut), but the sameyness that detracts slightly from Harum's first two albums is remedied here and then some.
Eclectic and brilliant.
