I found it light and humorous. It will always be my favorite compared to Tim Burton's reproduction. Charlie did have a father and the grandparents, Mr. Gloop, Mr.Teevee and Mrs. Salt have more presence in the book. Mr. Wonka was less bizarre and the ending was different but it was worth the film's ending.
