Entirely disappointing and frustrating to play. Personally I am unsure what FIFA have done since their 2017 release but each game has got progressively worse. At this point FIFA 20 is by far the worst FIFA I have ever played (and I have been playing since about ‘03). Defending: Slow, unresponsive and pointless. No element of skill or tactics are required to defend in this game as possession is decided almost entirely by the game itself. 95% of goals conceded come from a simple “1-2” between the striker & attacking midfielder/winger before one of them runs past all your defenders who make little to no attempt to intercept passes, track back or screen passes. Attacking: This is where the game comes alive as everyone has equal opportunity to score the exact same goal 5-6 times within the same match. Sit back, relax and wait for your opportunity to play a 75 yard pass through/over their defensive line and slot home a finesse shot underneath the onrushing goalkeeper. If the goalkeeper somehow saves your shot or it deflects off the post/bar, do not worry. There is 99% chance that the deflection will fall directly to the feet of the attacking team for you to have a second bite at the cherry. Ultimate team: A waste of time unless you’re happy to fork out £100+ for packs. Pay-To-Win is the method for this game mode and unfortunately the gameplay itself is no different to online seasons as described above. Overall - if I wasn’t £50 out of pocket I would definitely be buying PES20 this year and giving that a go (what is there to lose, it can’t be any worse than FIFA 20 is). Now to wait for Modern Warfare to come out so I can stop playing this atrocity that EA Sports have ruined.
