I'd give it a 9/10 but can't do half a star so it gets rounded up.
Gameplay is solid, exactly what you were expecting. The same mechanics with a host of different abilities and weapons. Not being able to cast light boon means there's a bit more choosing to do between ice/thunder weapons etc.
Some really good side quests where they've got the tone spot on and you really build solid relationships with NPCs. The quests aren't overly easy either, they do require some thinking on how to complete.
Knocking a point off for the main story, starts great, middle is good then it just gets too weird.
The fact I played the NG+ which is something I NEVER do shows it must be good.
