A real flop compared to the first one. I mean, I know the cinematography was epic but the storyline was a real let down as well as the confusion as to all the animals that appeared in that film. I felt like I was watching a wildlife documentary. And the incomprehensible look of it all. You start with, space monkeys, animatronic sharks in an arena (where did the water come from btw??, and where did it go?), the two sassy dogs, who look like they were ready to take part in crufts, the monkey that relived the 90s monkey , bubbles. The rhino??? I just don't get it! I love Denzel but I feel he was too big of presence to act in this one. The character felt more like his training day demeanor than a member of council or gladiator. What was up with the sliced hand in the end? Surely it would dangle and be left there? Surely all the monkeys would go into rage during the fighting scene and not have a staring competition to see who would win? How come Paul mescal was the interesting one when being selected? Others survived too? Why didn't the main characters get seriously hurt or even die when thousands of arrows were flying straight at them? Confusing to say the least and just disappointing . The acting was good I'm just upset with the rest. Oh well, I'm going to watch gladiator I again to erase the painful images I have in my head of this one!
