When I said I wanted an adaptation of Avatar in live action I meant word for word, line for line, scene for scene, action for action. I think the live action one is okay, the acting is a bit stiff, the lines are a littl off, and Aang doesnt seem like a kid and his jokes aren't great. But when trying to put a long season into 8 episodes they lose the passage of time, they lose the character growth. Like, i am not in love with Appa, he seems like a plot convenience, i forget about Momo. Theres no Aang and Katara love story, the zoomed over Jet and Katara. They don't show enough of the people they protect, the normal people. The civilians. And when they do show civilians it's nothing but to push the plot forward. All the big moments and learning points are shoved in and not natural. I get that kids need to grow up a lot when war is real, but i think it was a bigger impact when you watched the kids act like kids and have issues that teenagers do, all for them to grow up as they make their way through,
It seems like I'm watching the play that the Fire Nation puts on that is making fun of their journey or didn't have the correct information.
They kept saying "You don't realize how long we have been waiting for this." and I said I don't either, did you start this journey 6 months ago or a week ago?"
It's beautiful, it's great how they did the bending, it's trying to stay with it's source, it just feels like it's not the show they've been hyping up.
