I enjoyed the film as a film however it doesn’t show the reality of domestic violence. For one the abuser agreed to end the relationship- unrealistic or what!
for two the woman was very middle class with choices again unrealistic

I really enjoyed this film, a friend told me it wasn’t worth going to see, well they were WRONG!!
It was very well filmed, gave a very human aspect to the story can’t recommend it highly enough.

A fantastic film about the faults and kindness of people beautifully told. It also makes some very serious points about the struggle of ex mining villages still felt today and how that struggle is not the fault of refugees but of successive governments.
A film that stays with you long after you leave the cinema. If this is Ken Loach’s last film it’s quite a legacy!

Really well written and acted, funny and so very sad. I remember the 80s well and the huge stigma, ignorance and fear around AIDS and HIV and of course Margaret Thatcher’s section 28! This captures the time so well
