James, we trusted you. I'm disappointed to say that your comments about BTS' appearance at the UN, and their fans, were highly xenophobic and sexist. First of, yes it's true while BTS' appearance is unusual as it's not common for global stars to appear at the UN, and that they aren't politicians, the word choice could've been better. Unusual is often used negatively and implies that they don't deserve to be there. As a white man, it's xenophobic and racist to say that an Asian band is unusual to be there. You could've said that their appearance was "unique" or "special". Secondly, how dare you dismiss the fandom as consisting of 15 year old teen girls. First off, there's nothing wrong with being a teenaged girl who loves what she loves. She shouldn't have to be bashed for doing what she loves. Why do girls and women often get belittled for being themselves? Secondly, our fandom is huge and diverse, ranging from all ages, gender, and races. While you may be joking, unfortunately our fandom has had to deal with these pathetic comments for many years and we are simply sick and tired of hearing the same thing over and over, often form the mouths of white men, so of course we are not happy with your comments. James, you've met them, you've seen them, you've talked with them. You of all people should not be saying those kind of things. That's why we are deeply disappointed.
