As someone who has worked with her husband to remodel 5 houses over the past 35 years, I had totally given up on HGTV because all of the shows were alike and very, very unrealistic. I stumbled across Home Town and it reignited my interest in the channel. Ben and Erin are creative, cute and genuine. Erin's designs do not all look exactly alike and Ben's woodworking is excellent (even my woodworker husband is impressed). My only complaint is that they rarely (if ever) mention the expensive components of renovations - systems! They never discuss the roof, insulation, air conditioning (which I assume is important in MS), heating, plumbing (and I don't mean the fancy fixtures) or electrical upgrades that are almost always necessary in the types of neglected properties they redo.
