A stirring masterpiece that plays itself like the piece of art it is. Although the movie finds itself on the far end of the duration spectrum, it really doesn’t suffer in the eyes of movie enthusiasts as Mr. Mallick has perfected his way to provide depth and emphasis to a scene by making it longer. A brilliant movie with some really deep scenes that deserve recognition as standalone artworks on its own.

A huge movie with a lot happening inside it. This summarises every classic tamil entertainer and Mersal is no exception. This is an entertaining movie with a plot that has quite a handful of subplots thatched together. However one mustn’t fail to praise this movie for the social message it delivers because it really does shine in that aspect.

A well thought of plot but cringingly executed just like many other movies that have a larger than life protagonist.
