This game is beautiful and fun. I couldn’t recommend a game more, especially in times like these with coronavirus going around. Though there are a few caveats;
1. One island per system. This isn’t a problem for me since I play solo, however if you expect to play the game with lots of people then get ready for complaints. Only the first player (island representative) can really edit the island, making the other players’ experiences feel lessened. This could be an issue if you plan to share the Switch with lots of people.
2. Experiences with islanders aren’t as interesting. They’re still good- don’t get me wrong- but there’s no tasks or favors to complete for anybody, and they make overall bland commentary. You can hear the same thing from different villagers sometimes and it feels bland. Though this could be fixed with a patch, it probably won’t happen.
3. Time traveling. While I don’t personally time travel, some people get impatient and wanna play the game their way. That’s fair. But the issue is that they find quite quickly that there isn’t as much content in the game whenever you speed run the game. You can get through everything and the “main story” very quickly that way and it makes the game feel boring. So I don’t recommend it, but I can’t stop you.
Don’t let any of these things convince you not to get the game though. You will NOT regret it. However you should be aware of these issues.
