I waited over a decade for Steve Altens book series to come out in film. Although for a shark movie it isn’t objectively bad, it’s just a generic action film. The book series was a suspenseful thriller and amazing. The only part of the plot of the first book retained is the submarine incident, Jonas Taylor, and how the Meg gets out of the trench. It seems the director is going to butcher The Trench too with the trailer depicting the opening of the first book and the plot of the third book Meg: Primal Waters. Not bad, just a massive disappointment. If anything go read the books, support Steve Alten who made a great series, and tell Jon Turtletaub that he’s a disappointment. Like seriously, you get handed the best plot for a shark anything since Jaws and you turned it into a family friendly film that could be put on the Disney channel.
