I think the feelings and the respect they had for each other would have had a better ending. The way I see it. She is going to have lingering feelings for another man, and she still had feeling for him. That's just the way I see it. And her married life won't be a good one because of the what if. I hadn't over reacted to a low point in his life. He literally got beat up for her, and literally lost his career for her and that's the thanks he got!
