I want to give this movie an 8 as it achieves many great things. It portrays many great Lessons, such as faith, bravery, courage and a persons will to survive. As this film can be deemed as a negative aspect on the Mayan culture and society, you simply can’t look at it that way. This film had many historians involved and anthropologists when portraying the myan culture and style we see in the movie, which was awesome. Another thing I appreciated was the film using the myan language. The film tells a bigger story about a a character which is surround by a civilization which is collapsing and what lengths people are willing to go to persevere what they have, especially if what they have is too great to be destroyed. You could say there’s a lot of luck or fortunate events that take place, but they were intended for the storyline. If you look past the backlash and the bad reviews, which usually criticize how it portrays myan culture; which again isn’t the movies biggest take away, then your left with a wonderful story driven film. Fun facto e of the This film representations is the United States invasion of Iraq which Gibson frowned upon . Just look it up. There were some controversial scenes in the movie such as the mass grave you will see (saw), which represents Mel Gibsons far right idea of what about abortion is. This overall causes some of the negative reviews because of Mels Gibsons actions.
