Strictly speaking from a literature student’s perspective, this was a very short and brief read. There was some degree of character building, however, it felt a bit too superficial and would hardly be the kind of book to have a significant impact to the art of prose. That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed it from a girlhood point of view, it was easy and a quick read, like fast food, the satisfaction of (almost) instant gratification from interactions between the protagonist and her love interest was sufficient although not enough to spark any desire to reread this again. It will probably fade into a distant memory that won’t be revisited.

Mediocre at best. I was excited to read this book initially, but as i've grown in the last decade or so, the twilight I loved in the past didn't age too well. in the wake of an 'enlightening' that society has undergone, i can see that there is an unhealthy relationship where one becomes obsessed with his / her 'lover' and Edward's character development, while there is some, still falls rather flat. Time to move on other books!
