Being a Native American, this story was insulting and disrespectful. This book contains many misconceptions, false imagery, and inappropriate subjects for the topic of boarding schools. Such as stereotypes of Native children being filthy and unkept, false images of past boarding school nuns, and terrible use of comedy on this topic of death and assimilation of innocent Native children. This book shouldn’t even be being used in schools. She a white woman shouldn’t even be writing about the past of Native people with no full understanding of how this affected families and tribes.
