I really liked this movie. I am just disappointed that I was so distracted while watching it. I kept getting notifications on my phone while watching and I couldn’t ignore them because it was an important matter. However, these visuals blew me away. Out of Makoto Shinkai’s three newest movies Your Name, Weathering With You, and Suzume, this movie by far had the best visuals. He really does get better and better with every movie. The story was great, there were no major plot holes that I could remember. A couple of things happened in the movie which I thought didn’t make a lot of sense, but nothing too major. My major critique is the CGI used when the “big event” took place in the movie. It looked cheap and flat. How does this compare to Your Name? Your Name is my favorite movie from Makoto Shinkai. Of course there is the big plot hole of them living in different times so technically the girl should be way older than the guy, but I still love it. The soundtrack in Your Name and Suzume are both very unique but when I watched Suzume I noticed that it was the same singer from the Your Name soundtrack which was interesting. The ending of Suzume wasn’t horrible, but definitely not as romantic as Your Name. I feel like I expected more. That’s about it. Other than that, I’m definitely going to have to rewatch this so I can have an uninterrupted viewing of the movie. I recommend watching it.
