The critics who pan this program are not watching it. I don't know - haven't got a clue what they expect. The Wire it isn't. Intensely written, characters you want to believe in, that you care about, getting through their lives with courage. It's not À la recherche du temps perdu or War and Peace [Война и Mир], Moby Dick, Ulysses. Giancarlo Esposito would get an academy award if it were an A movie. I am genuinely glad I ignored the criticism because I genuinely want to know what happens, how it happens, why it happens and I genuinely am rooting for the good guys. There's nothing wrong with ginger cookies or mac n' cheese if you're hungry and it's the best mac n' cheese you've eaten in years. Save the souffle and perfect asparagus for later when the asparagus are in season and the eggs are fresh laid in your back yard hen house. enjoy this really good TV program. IMHO it's riveting

I really never knew anything about this part of Franklin's life, about how crucial his ambassadorship is to US history, about these aspects of Franklin's personal life and character and I knew zero about Termple Franklin. I have always both over idealized Franklin, and under appreciated his extraordinary complexity. He's mythic, but this series dramatizes him as a real person pimples included. It also makes me want to know him better. as a person not just a persona. Michael Douglas and Noah Nupe are just delightful actors fully realizing the people in their characters. The social cultural milieu made the world he lived in more real. There was a lot of humor and real life drama you don't experience from biography and history. It made me care and gave me empathy. There are a lot of criticism that can be made. It's a TV series. I'll leave that to the critics: at no time was my suspension of disbelief challenged. Maybe only because I don't know enough, but now I know so much more. It's not the Wire, not Godfather 123, not Aristophanes' Women of Troy: IMHO opinion it delivers the goods.

everything about rebel 2 is so painfully awful, it was unbearable to watch. it goes so far beyond the suspension of disbelief it's simply incredibly incredible. a canon turret on a space ship? really? a man brain dead for days fully restored to full consciousness but with a round patch of skin on his chest missing? really? there is not one thing, nothing that makes any kind of sense at any point in this movie. for example, the core plot consists of an intergalactic space battleship requiring the grain harvest of a village on a random moon off the beaten tract and an engine room with shovels. why would the intergalactic space battleship have anything at all to do with grain harvested by some village. why do horses have thick flat plates on their faces: are there horse face eating predatory birds on that moon? there is no part of this movie that makes rational sense. a village of wooden sheds together with star wars technologies and a 1940s vintage grand Grundig short wave radio for intergalactic communications. nothing about any aspect of the film resembles any kind of real attempt to make any sense. characters are all carboard cut outs. hyperbolic dialogue shot through with every cliche ever made. speeches addressed to nobody. a complicated plot that defies outlining with twists that simply do not matter. actors endlessly staring at nothing for no reason. i was sick today so i watched it through as a kind of masochism to get my mind off of being sick: it gave me something to be sick about and wasted a good part of my waking day. rather than doing my laundry

i loved this series and binged it even though i'd read some rather critical reviews - even where i agreed with the criticism, i thought they were being too critical: an ice cream sunday does not have to be hagen dass to be enjoyable i disagreed about its critical significance such as stereotypical political discussions which i found more good parody than shallow writing. a lot of parody. a lot of stereotype alot of nubile shirt;ess ladies but no similarly displayed young men some of it is simplistic but over all rarely stretches suspension of disbelief to its breaking point. most of all my rule of thumb is how much i would like having those people over for dinner or going to their house for a stay. the casting is perfect. it seems everybody is in character and nobody seems out of their depths. the detective story is fascinating, twisting, turning, twisting around. this is not expanse or the last of us. not breathing air in a forest on the moon, it's fun and

extraordinary drama extraordinary acting. virtually never breaks the suspension of disbelief. i really care about the people in this drama: they're all real and the very best non-binary same sex relationship ever on TV [unless you saw Milk on TV and outdoes Brokeback maybe because it's not about the two most sexiest men in Hollywood] it's just too real. one tiny quibble in the science, with that degree of reforestation and that degree of reduction in CO2 and atmospheric carbon being sucked down into the soil everywhere, there should be a lot more cold and a lot more bitter cold. climate's too mild focusing on just two people mostly pulls everything together and everything else just goes along nicely ... i can't believe it but it looks like the end of episode 6 looks like the end of the story. and in the university what are the rhesus monkeys eating in the middle of winter - they don't live on dried leaves. it's the most gut wrenching series i can remember

definitely a powerfully written series with extremely real people. the main people were people i really liked. the brutality of the culture shown is hard to deal with. late 19th century us culture was brutal in ways inconceivable to me as a WWII born upstate nyer. there were no pygmie africans in Bronx Zoo when i lived there. we never ever learned in any of my high school and college us history books the woodrow wilson was KKK, nor Rosewood or Tulsa massacres. It was a fact but no one ever told me the the GIBill was white only. The white on black massacres throughout the US south and family outing, school closing holiday lynch culture i didn't know about. the bravery, courage, integrity, heriosm of the leading characters in a far fallen world validates the basic human values we all share. our most precious values come into european culture in the 17th and 18th centuries from the american cultures we encounter there, [The Dawn of Everything: A New History of Humanity Graeber and Wengrow] e.g. The Tempest by Shakespeare and earlier in the 11th-12th centuries from our encounters with Muslim chivalry sufism, or Futuwwah it's deserving film deserving actors who serve real characters that must have taken extraordinary humanity to bring to real life. the acting at every level is exceptional.

I axm in love forever with Jay Lycurgo. wow. i'll be a fan through all of eternity and god willing he'll have a long career. from the very beginning to the very end all five stars all chocked full. it's a heartfelt film. from the first scenes, i am head over heels in love with Nathan. there's nothing not to like about this beautiful young man[forgive me if i say though it's just too obvious that none of the actors are under 25 playing 15 year olds. you just can't portray a child ten years younger that yourself. that ship has long ago left the harbor] I think i would have watched if it were the worst movie in the world, but this one did make cry in a couple of places. and a couple of plot turns were turned to make the plot plod on ... not a masterpiece. the deus ex machina ending with dad was precious anyway, despite how heavy handed it was lotted in the actors and the acting make this movie work for me. the special effects ... bodies in anatomically correct overlays... did not hurt either thankfully the pace doesn't give you much time to think through the details too deeply. the universe it takes place in is more than adequately realized it becomes a positive vehicle for the actions that occur. i enjoyed watching, cared about what was happening, was fully involved in all the moral, psychological, cultural ambiguities and changes in direction constant through the episodes. it looks like they've got a lot of challenges ahead in future seasons.
