Hydro Thunder may be a sister to Arctic Thunder, but for some reason, it just isn`t as good as everyone`s favorite snowmobile racing game. Yes, there are some things in it that are similar to Arctic, such as the track design, power-ups, inclusion of stunt ramps, and even the rumbling seat in the arcade version, but it`s still a far cry from what Arctic has to deliver. The boats are hard to control, they don`t have weapons like the snowmobiles in Arctic, and they don`t seem to go as fast, either. The boost power-ups aren`t the same as those in Arctic, either, as you have to activate them manually by pressing a button on the controls, and depending on the color of the icon, you can only get 4 or 9 seconds worth of booster fuel respectively. Finally, there are some goofy things throughout the game, such as waterless sections on some tracks, a volcano inside a volcano that you can even jump over, penguins and polar bears living together in the Arctic, and much more. It would be best just to play Arctic instead.
