There are many negative professional reviews of this movie. It is true the directing needed help. There were several points of natural inaccuracies. It is surprising that producers and actors even others staff did not make note of them. One of the most obvious is the nature of orchids. They are a tropical plant. They will not grow where the temperature is so low that there is risk of frostbite. They do not grow in deep pots of soil but rather sink roots into soft decaying matter from first layer fallen materials. Even so, any one who has read Viktor E. Frankl's Man's Search for Meaning (From Death Camp to Existentialism) will recognize the value of this movie. It some what resembles Interstellar in that the human spirit remains connected. One's spirit is never alone. It is more fantansy/sci-fi, other worldly, intuitive rather than rational. The Sea of Trees gives a feel of Snow Falling on Cedars and Contact. Each uses the slowness of human time to fully understand fifth dimensional reality.
