The Movie has practically no weaknesses, in particular it does not have too many threads, as Ms. Freeman declares. Not having seen Millie B. Brown before, I was completely sold on the character of Enola Holmes, based on Millie's screen presence. (Not overwhelming, but certainly very persuasive.)
The initial shock to Enola was the disappearance of her mother. But it gradually emerges that the latter has indeed not abandoned Enola, but left her a host of resources to escape the clutches of her two older brothers. The only mystery is how Tewkesbury fits in. The movie is much more of a thriller than the young adults story.
Three thumbs up.
