Overly long desperately slow full of unsympathetic characters depicting French courtroom chaos and where a scarily cold protagonist wins out over dead, weak and plundered husband. Something brutal and nasty about this film but there’s no irony in sight to redeem it. The casual cruelty to the film’s hero-a dog-was sickening both in what the boy did to it and how it’s assumed the audience will approve. Garbage.
