This book is comprised of letters that the author has directed to the many people, institutions and destructive coping skills that have caused her so much trauma: abandonment, sexual abuse, mental and physical abuse and not having a support system; being unjustly deemed insane, held in isolation, kept on government assistance when she wanted to work and be a productive human being; PTSD, depression, suicidal ideations and self harm.
As a fellow trauma survivor, I can relate to what the author has expressed through her series of letters.
But here I found ways to cope and find a way to fight these debilitating, self destructive feelings through the authors Healing Letters:
•Rebuttal to Inner Critic
•Love Letters to Myself
•Farewell to Self Injury
•Healthy Human Connection
•Being Able to Accept Love
•Trusting People Again
•Finding Long Term Hope
•Not Having to Be Perfect
•Self Advocating
•Inner Child Therapy
•The Healing Power of Prayer
•Letters From God
I have gone through years and years of counseling. Sometimes it was difficult to express my feelings and advocate for myself.
Now at the age of 75, through this book, I have found words to help me advocate for myself. I can feel myself becoming strong again, feel empowered, have hope and am looking forward to a fulfilling life.
