The reviews and the synopsis are misleading. It's made out to be a time travel movie when in fact it's more about expressing the same events and concept in different realities as Hugh Jackman's character moves through grief over his wife's illness and death, his inability to prevent it in time, and finally coming to terms with it all in the end. Not very deep or thought provoking either, unless you're a complete simpleton. Also to note, I'm pregnant and crying at everything, but this film failed to move me.

Have to rewatch on my HDTV rather than a big old 90s tube, but I have to wonder if the shimmer and creatures within are not inspired by the myths about faerie, the place. That was my immediate thought upon the time distortion, confusion in characters, etc. Fantastic movie, if my husband didn't have to work in 5 hours would be rewatching right this moment!
