Really wanted to like this game. Played the PS5 free trial. The game just wasn’t what I was hoping for. It’s more like a ship-mmo than it is a sort of GTA meets pirates type of game, which is what I was hoping for. Sadly, there’s no hand to hand or in-person flintlock pistol and sword type combat. Boarding an enemy ship is a cut scene. You can’t really sprint or jump when you’re on land. Ship crew doesn’t have any bearing on the game. The on land game play seems a bit clunky and not as engaging as I was hoping for. A PS+ subscription is required to play the game. The graphics are pretty good but by no means exceptional by today’s standards. The story line is pretty dry for my taste and doesn’t offer a lot of engagement. If you’re looking for a seemingly bare-bones ship mmo, this game is okay. Honestly, I’m let down.
