Made a spontaneous decision to watch this movie without going through the many bad reviews. I thought the movie was extremely captivating. The fears of the characters were well projected. my opinion is that you must be sharp enough and probably informed of some psychological theories in order to better appreciate the underlying meaning behind all the nuances behind the characters' lines. The underlying theme seems to be that everyone of us has our fears and potential for self-destruction and destruction of others. However, our potential for overcoming our deepest fears is even greater. The feeling of being trapped, perceived lack of freedom, desire to hurt others etc. are all imagined. We keep ourselves in our own cages. Once we are able to overcome our deepest fears, we would uncover the greater potential within us to be compassionate, trusting and trustworthy, kind, helpful, etc.
Minus 2 stars because the ending was very abrupt - although it brings out the feeling that freedom from fear is nothing spectacular - but it left an unpleasant feeling. I was still in a state of shock after the closing. It would have been a more enjoyable experience if the ending was developed to bring more positive feelings or if the mood was more uplifting.
